Everything you want to know about blinds but were afraid to ask……

Blinds Uncovered

When you’re deciding what style of window blinds to get for your Edinburgh home or office it’s all too easy to get bogged down in the many various choices on offer – do you go for roller blinds, vertical blinds, pleated blinds, venetian blinds and what even are Perfect Fit and Intu Blinds….not to mention Velux and Louvolite and Roman blinds and on and on. Hopefully through regular updates on this blog we can answer some of your questions and help you make the decision as to what kind of window blind to go for with as little stress as possible. After that you just need to choose the fabric and colour – but that’s a whole other story 🙂

It seems a good idea to start with probably the simplest style of window blind on offer – Roller Blinds. We probably sell more Roller Blinds than any other style – down to the fact that they are practical, versatile, stylish and can be used in a variety of rooms. Roller Blinds look great in a kitchen or bathroom (especially when you let your creative side loose) and are very popular as both bedroom and living room blinds. There’s an almost limitless range of colours, designs and fabrics available as well as a huge range of ways in which you can personalise your own blind. And living in this great city of Edinburgh as we do many customers go for a blackout roller option for their bedrooms so when the summer sun rises at 4.30 in the morning their (or their kids or even dogs!) slumber is not affected.

Our standard roller blind range comes in a wide selection of colour palettes, over 40 to choose from. Beyond this there’s a greats choice of textures, patterns, designs and fabrics – some especially designed for certain environments such as kitchens, bathrooms or sunrooms and conservatories. The roller blinds come with a chain pull mechanism which can be fitted either side of the blind as you prefer and can be fitted either inside a window recess or will sit perfectly well outside it. Our window blinds are all made to measure so will fit the measured space just right and are sturdily held in place by a couple of brackets which can be fitted either top or front facing for maximum flexibility. All our roller blinds come with chain metal pulls as standard – they just look so much better than the white plastic ones and finish the blind off beautifully.

Also available and very popular are the Senses Roller Blind range – these beautiful blinds are chain and cord free meaning that not only are they stylish but they are also the safest blinds on the market. The blinds are spring loaded so you simply pull down on them to the desired level – when you wish to release them they have a fantastic slow rise. One of the main selling points of the Senses range is that they come with a matching fascia/pelmet which covers the blind top bar and mechanism – it looks great. And lastly they are available in more or less the same amazing range of fabrics that standard rollers are.

Price wise roller blinds are one of the best value solutions on the market and well worth the money. So if you’re interested – either in standard, blackout or Senses and whether you want to go plain white or colour crazy then give us a call and we’ll arrange a home visit. Here are just a few examples of roller blinds we’ve fitted in Edinburgh recently for inspiration.
